OSSETT JUNIORS

Welcome to Ossett Town Juniors
Ossett Town Junior Football Club is a volunteer junior football organisation providing football development opportunities for boys and girls in the Ossett and surrounding area.

The club is affiliated to the West Riding County FA and is a Charter Standard junior football club.

We have approximately 250 children who participate in the football club across age groups from under 7 to under 16’s.  We also have an academy for the under 19’s.

All of our coaches are FA qualified and have been checked with the Criminal Records Bureau.

Each year we take on a new intake of 5 to 7 year olds – no previous football experience is necessary as we focus on providing community based football development for the young people of Ossett and the surrounding area.

Each age group is run by the parents of the boys and girls in each respective team.  A manager/coach is appointed and if not already qualified, they will attend an FA coaching course.  Additional coaches will be appointed and trained as necessary.  Parents will also need to appoint a treasurer to look after the age group’s finances and all other parents’ assistance is required to generally help set-up for matches, run a tuck-shop or arrange events.  Everyone who helps does so on a voluntary basis - even the manager and coaches.

Each age group will usually require parents to pay subscriptions (e.g. £2 a week) and there is a yearly affiliation fee to Ossett Town Juniors, currently £35.

In terms of games, the under 7’s and under 8’s generally play in friendly games only and do not enter a league.  When you get to under 9’s and above, teams enter one of a number of leagues, the three key ones being the Garforth league, the Huddersfield league and the Charles Rice league.

The managers of each team meet every two months as a management committee to deal with the management of the overall junior section and deal with any issues arising.  Each year (usually in June) there is an Annual General Meeting for all parents/guardians of players to elect club officials.

A number of our junior teams have their own website – see the contact details page or website links for further information.

Ossett Town Juniors prides itself on offering enjoyable sporting activity for both boys and girls with a particular focus on the development of the child to supplement their schooling activities.
